Everyone who uses a computer has used a web browser sometime or the other. It the first step towards connecting to the internet for almost everyone.
Earlier there were only two Browsers in use Internet Explorer and Netscape. But now you have Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome and more.
The Browser market is very crucial for all the major companies in existence as it affects our choice of Search Engine and also our online behavior is changing everyday. We use the browser for more than reading a webpage. Now days we use it for checking mails, playing games and more. So the need for a secure and faster browser is much more than ever before.
Also our behavior of using any application is changing; more and more users are using application stored on a remote server to access their data. And Google believes that this trend will increase in the next few years. This trend is called the Cloud computing which will make the Microsoft PC based Windows less relevant and gives google a leg up on Microsoft.
To counteract this Microsoft is developing Internet Explorer 8 but again it will not be easy for Microsoft to compete against the likes of Firefox and Chrome. All the new browsers need to be Faster and easy to use and on these grounds Firefox and Chrome both are way ahead of Internet Explorer.
Also the Browsers need to use less resources of your PC to run and again here Firefox and Chrome both are way ahead of Internet Explorer.
In terms of security the Browsers will need to be more secure to attacks like ClickJacking and be more secure.
