Hardware Error 1024

Why do you get this Error 1024?……..

Is this Error going to harm my Computer?……..

First let me clarify, this error does not mean that something is wrong with your PC or your Modem.

This has been an ongoing issue with Tiscali Broadband users, Orange Broadband users, Toucan Broadband and people who have Broadband and have Speedtouch modems and the new drivers.

The reason that the error appears is because the new drivers that you get are meant for Windows Vista and not Windows Xp or the other older Windows Operating Systems.

So to get that error resolved, try this, it will work for sure but do it carefully as you have to make changes in Windows Registry. Try it at your own risk and just follow the steps that are given here.

*Start–>Run–>msconfig.
*Click on “Start up” tab:
*In the start up processes look for ” dragdiag.exe “,Please see to it that you find “C:\program files\thomson” next to it.
*Uncheck that option.
*Click ‘apply’ and ‘ok’
*Click ‘close’
*Restart system.

Please let me know if that works as it has worked for all the people that I have tried it with.

**( not sure if it works for Win 98)

Error 680

What does error 680 mean?

No dial tone (which means that your modem does not receive any ADSL signal)

Reasons for the same:

1) You have not connect the RJ 11 cable properly to the modem.

2) You have not connected the RJ 11 properly to the filter.

3) Filter not connected properly to the telephone socket or all the sockets in the house are not filtered.

4) The modem Drivers are not installed properly.

5) And finally your Broadband signals are not reaching your premises.

How to resolve this? …………

1) Start by checking the physical setup for your broadband connection. This is just to ensure that you have everything setup properly before you contact your service provider.

2) Try and swap the filters may be the filter has gone faulty.

3) Also try the connection by isolating the line, that is try and remove all the other phone handsets from the extension sockets and only have the modem connected to the main socket. ( I know quite a tedious job to do, you must be thinking all of a sudden what went wrong it was working for so long I dont have to do this its an issue from the service providers end. But believe me it works 90 % of the instances that i have tried. )

4) Then Check if you have any of these scenarios on your Modem:

ADSL light Blinking

ADSL light : Flashing

ADSL light Switched Off

ADSL light : Off

If any of these then please do go through the fisrt three steps that i have mentioned.

5) However if you have the following scenario on your modem:

modem 31 300x136 Error 680

If you have Two Solid Green Lights and also have the No Dial Tone error, this means that you need to reinstall the modem drivers.

6) If you still have the same error after going through the steps above, tine to call your ISP and be at their mercy (just kidding they are not so bad)
