Since approximately 40 years the computer mouse has been one of the major and useful hardware’s of any computer system. But according to a recent research, the countdown for its extinction has already begun.
Though Microsoft has introduced new advanced mouse and trying to give customers better hardware yet the fact of extinction of mouse would not change.
The researchers predict that in next four to five years the mouse would not be required by any computer system. It will be taken over by Gestural computer mechanism such as touch screens and facial recognition devices.
The next trend in the technology is of interactive devices and interactive interfaces which is inspired from the world of gaming. Such as PSP and XBox360.
To describe the change here are two example`s, Panasonic has introduced a forward facing video in the category of home entertainment system`s. It does not require the conventional remote to control the functions, instead you just need to hold up your hand and it would recognize that you’ve done that. To toggle through the functional menus you just need not press anything it would recognize your face and display function menu`s on the screen then by moving your figure you can select the desired function.
There is going to be a launch of an emotive system where one can wear a headset and control the computer simply by thinking.
In short the ways of interaction with computers are rapidly changing. Convergence is one of the essential factors in today’s world. Today’s TV works as a computer monitor and computer monitor works as a TV.
No matter how many new technologies come in, it would not be fair on our part to forget the value of mouse.
