Intel launches one more Micro Processor Xeon 7400. It is based on the 45 Nanometre Technology. This new piece of art is designed at Intel’s India based Bangalore unit in a record period of just two years. Xeon 7400 is designed to enhance the operations of servers.
This is first of its kind which has 6 processing core’s with each chip. It consists of 1.9 billion transistors which will support a cache memory in the tune of 16MB. This processor will help the server to have maximum 96 processing cores inside with a support from 16 processor sockets. This series will help IT manage complex server environments, which would boost the performance of multi-threaded applications within a stable platform infrastructure.
Xeon 7400 is highly compatible with Intel Xeon 7300 and Intel 7300 series chipsets. With this advancement VMware customers can move freely between two servers running on different Intel chipsets. Previously it was mandatory that both the servers should have the same series of chipsets for the Vmotion to work. And now with this invention no such barrier exists.
Intel also claims that electricity and cooling expenses can be cut down to nearly half the cost of current company computer servers.
Multi core chips allow computers fasten multiple tasks at the same time, instead of having a single powerful processor that handle’s a job in a linear style from start to end.
