Google is making a lot of effort to make money from its YouTube unit,users now have e-commerce Ad’s where they can buy online music from Apple iTunes and Amazon.com.
Now while watching a Video if you like the soundtrack of the video, you get an icon next to video. The icon enables you to download the music from any of the online stores.
Bakari Brock, business affairs counsel at YouTube said “If you like the song, you don’t need to leave Google or leave the site to buy it.”
Two years ago Google paid $1.65 Billion for YouTube and would like to convert the site’s traffic into substantial revenue. Google revenue from its core ad business has decreased in the last couple of years.
YouTube will look forward to provide more options for its users to increase the e-commerce platform. Right now the options are limited to music download from EMI or the Universal Music Group on iTunes and Amazon. Also the latest game Spore is also available. In the future users will also be able to buy other merchandise and tickets to concerts from YouTube.
YouTube also offers Music Labels to identify unauthorized material on the site, by letting the Music labels to place e-commerce Ad’s next to the videos uploaded by users. The images and the videos can be identified using YouTube’s Content ID system.
Also YouTube has released its l which is suitable for long-format videos available on the site.
