Apple was hailed for its revolutionary MacBook Pro Laptop and also touted the new GeForce 8600 GT Mobile Graphics Processor by the Nvidia.
But recently it was unveiled that the Chips in the MacBook have been reported to be faulty. However initially, Apple did not accept the reports that the chips are faulty. On Thursday Apple said that the three MacBook Pro models Manufactured between May 2007 and September 2008, which also includes the 15-inch, 17-inch and Early 2008 are among the one which have faulty chips.
Apple also said that it is not at fault with respect to the faulty, it stated that Nvidia said that the MacBook with the graphic processors were not faulty.
It was only after investigation by Apple that it was found out that the MacBook Pro laptops were the ones affected.
Apple maintains the fact that the failure was not widespread and was only found on few Notebooks.
People who have the MacBook Pro need to check for distorted or scrambled video or need to check for absence of videos when the Laptops are running.
People who end up with failed Nvidia graphics processor in their MacBook Pro within two years of the original prophase date can get the repairs done for free, this implies even if the warranty on the Laptops is expired. The affected MacBook Pro’s are to be brought to an Apple retail store or Apple authorized service provider. People who have already paid for the repairs can get a refund for the amount they have paid.
As a result of the Faulty chips Nvidia’s stock plunged 31 percent from $18.78 on July 2 to $12.98 on July 3. Nvidia also announced that it would take a onetime charge up to $200 million to cover Warranty Costs due to the failing chips
